Safeguarding Training

In our churches we offer much valued work with children, young people and vulnerable groups, often carried out by people on a voluntary basis. The contribution they make to the Christian way of life is immeasurable.

We can never be complacent about safeguarding. We need to create and maintain a culture of informed vigilance to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.

The Church of England requires individuals to attend various levels of safeguarding training every three years.  The House of Bishops Guidance which was produced at the start of 2017 specified new modules of training.

In 2019 the Church of England's National Safeguarding Team reviewed its training strategy and published its revised version of the Training and Development Framework in August. This included updates to the training materials, renaming the training levels, and reduced the number of modules.

In October 2019 St Edmundsbury and Ipswich Diocesan Synod approved the new Safeguarding Training modules and their implementation across the diocese.

The scheduling of Safeguarding Leadership courses are now on Eventbrite.  Please click here to see all our events.
